DG Clifford W. Youngs participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the canine MRI unit at Guiding Eyes for the Blind in July. District 20-O applied for in January 2009 and received a $75,000 grant towards the purchase of the MRI unit from Lions Clubs International Foundation.

2010 Tri-Valley Lions | Journey For Sight Walk

The Tri-Valley Lions held their annual Journey For Sight Walk at the Grahamsville Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 1, 2010, with registration and refreshments at the Grahamsville First Aid Squad Building starting at 8:30am.  It was a gorgeous day weather-wise, and 15 walkers turned out, including Bonnie & Barry Lewis with Booboo (cutest walker), Fran Fuller, Julianna & Mary Smith, Esta Jacob, MaryAnn Cosentino, Debbi Ackerley, Barbara Yager, RoseAnn Knox, Lisa Garigliano, Ruth Curley, Carol Clark, Kelly & Sarah Whipple (who at just under 12 months old, was our youngest walker).

Concurrent with the Journey for Sight Walk, our annual Tag Day was held. Tag Day sites were in Grahamsville, Neversink and Curry, and manned by Lions Don TerBush, Barry TerBush, Hugh Delaney Jr, Bryan Delaney, Mert Lockhart, Carmen Salvemini, Gene Ganz, Tom McKenna, Jack Clark, Mike Ryan, Horace Sheeley, Mike Curley, and friend Michael Jacob.

Donations collected totalled over $3,600 for The Journey For Sight and Tag Day!!

We would like to thank all those who made pledges to The Journey For Sight and to those friends and neighbors who stopped at our Tag Day sites and made donationsWe would also like to thank all of the Walkers and Workers.  Every penny collected goes back out to local church food pantries; Guiding Eyes for the Blind; Juvenile Diabetes; sending a child with physical or mental impairment to Camp Badger; donations to American Cancer  Society; to neighbors in need due to fires or other catastrophic issues; service awards to local High School students; and ever so many more worthy causes. 

Special thanks to Lions Liza Salvemini, Eunice Sheeley, Joyce Lockhart, Pauline Vetter, and friend Julia Mednick who manned the kitchen and/or helped with administrative duties of the day.  As always, a special thank you to Meighan Dean and Cannie D's for their annual donation of water & foods for our annual Journey for Sight Walk/Tag Day, and to the Daniel Pierce Library for permitting us to copy our pledge sheets.
